CluBarham a winner!!!!!

Lorne Golf Trip to Barham

Our hard working Social Committee, led by Sally Young (below right with multiple winner Anne Maree Kennedy) and Lesley Goldsworthy, organised a great trip for 24 of us to Barham, July 3rd and 4th.

The weather was perfect and we had a lot of fun playing on the CluBarham Golf Club course. The bunkers were a challenge on the back nine. Word is that the monstrous bunker on the ‘Gallipoli’ hole is the largest one in the Southern Hemisphere. It sure felt like it when we were trying to hit out of it!

Winners of the Stableford event on the first day were Anne Maree Kennedy with 31 points and Sally Young runner-up with 29 points. In the men’s comp Rod Angus won with 34 points, runner-up was Martyn Gilbert on 33 points with Richard Halpin third on a countback.

Day Two at CluBarham was another day of beautiful sunshine - once the ice melted from the overnight frost! The Irish 3-Ball competition was won by Anne Maree Kennedy, Martyn Gilbert and Richard Halpin with 72 points, runners-up were Rose Lloyd, John Higgins and a ‘Phantom’ with 68 points. 

Each night we met for dinner at the Barham Services Club. Chick Hosking and Janet Higgins both won a meat raffle!

Everyone enjoyed the trip and we’re already talking about another one next year.
