Captains a winner

On Sunday the 10th, the annual Captain V Presidents shield was contested under blue bird skies and not a breath of wind. The four-club event produced some good, and some not so good, scores and all in good fun. The perpetual shield features pieces of memorabilia that were rescued from the remains of our clubhouse, which was burnt to the ground in the Ash Wednesday fires of 1983 and such a great reminder of a past era of our club and its committed members.
In a very tight contest, Captain Ali was victorious on the day in the narrowest of margins, being a fraction of one point. Perhaps the best way to sum up was that Ali won the individual event on a count back from Geoffrey while the President brought up the rear to ensure our "golfing leader" remains in control. A great bit of fun amongst a loyal bunch of golfers!
